Network Settings for MSR Devices

LAN Settings

Configuring the IP network address and LAN parameters. In the Enter the ALL3697's IP address in your web browser (default: 192.168.0.100). Settings can be found under “Configuration” > “LAN Settings.”

• Hostname

Here, you can give your MSR DEVICE a name that it will use to identify itself on the network. Only the following characters are allowed: a-z, A-Z, 1-9, and the hyphen (do not use it at the beginning or end). Do not use any special characters or spaces. The maximum length is 15 characters.

• Domain (only for static IP allocation)

To join the device to a domain, enter the name here.

• IP address (only for static IP assignments)

IP address of the MSR device on the local network (Please make sure you do not assign the same IP address twice—check with your administrator if necessary).

• netmask (only for static address assignment)

Default setting: 255.255.255.0

• Default Gateway (only for static IP assignment)

Enter the default gateway here; this is usually your router's IP address.

• First DNS (only with static address assignment)

Enter the address of your DNS server here. In home networks, this is usually the IP address of your router.

• Secondary DNS (only for static IP addresses)

The default setting is 8.8.8.8. Please change this only if there is a second DNS server on your internal network.

After changing the parameters, confirm by selecting “Save Entries.” The MSR DEVICE will automatically restart. After approximately 90 seconds, the MSR DEVICE should be accessible with the new parameters.

• IP Address Settings

If you select “DHCP,” the device will use an IP address assigned by the DHCP server. The remaining steps in this chapter do not apply in this case. If you select “static” (default), you must configure the settings manually. Contact your network administrator if necessary.

Wi-Fi Settings

Select the Wi-Fi operating mode. There are 3 options available:

• Off: Wi-Fi is disabled. (Default setting)

• Wireless Client: The device can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network.

Configuring Wi-Fi settings. Enter the device's IP address in your web browser. To adjust the settings, go to "Configuration" > "Network Settings" and set "WLAN Mode" to "Wireless Client."

If you use this operating mode in conjunction with a LAN, the device acts as a Wi-Fi access point. This allows other Wi-Fi devices to connect to your LAN. This operating mode can also be used to control the device on its own without a LAN connection—for example, from your cell phone via Wi-Fi. For this operating mode, it is recommended to enable the DHCP server.

Access Point Settings

• Access Point: The device functions as a Wi-Fi access point. This means that all devices on your LAN network can be accessed via Wi-Fi.

• Wireless Client: The device can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network.

Set up the login credentials for your home Wi-Fi network.

• SSID

Give your wireless network a name, known as the SSID. The following characters are allowed: a-z, A-Z, 1-9, _-@. Do not use spaces. The maximum length is 32 characters.

• Wi-Fi authentication mode

Select an encryption method (OPEN NONE, Shared WEB, WPAPSK-TKIP, WPAPSK-AES, WPA2PSK-TKIP, WPA2PSK-AES). We recommend using WPA2PSK-AES for maximum security.

• Channel

Select a channel from the drop-down menu. Try to find the widest possible channel spacing from other access points with high transmit power (signal % indicator).

This operating mode can also be used to control the device on its own, without a LAN connection—for example, from your cell phone via Wi-Fi. For this operating mode, it is recommended that you enable the DHCP server.

After changing parameters, confirm by selecting “Save Settings.” The device will automatically restart. Now disconnect the device from your LAN port. A simultaneous Wi-Fi and LAN connection will cause interference on your network. After about 90 seconds, the device should be accessible via Wi-Fi with the new settings.

• Encryption key

The entry must match the one on your access point exactly. Clicking "SHOW PASSWORD" allows you to visually check for any typos.
