SMTP Server

Settings can be found under "Configuration" > "SMTP Settings."

Starting with software patch 1113, a new notification feature is available. Due to their embedded Linux systems, some older ALLNET-MSR devices may only support older SSL/TLS versions for direct SMTP connections. Since many email providers now require more modern encryption methods, notifications may no longer be sent directly via the respective email server.

ALLNET provides a cloud-based notification server as a solution. This server securely forwards notifications and supports not only email via SMTP but also Telegram and webhooks.

• Settings / Send a test email

You can test your SMTP settings by clicking the "Send Test Email" button. You can view the log file by clicking the "Log File" button.

• Line ending

• SMTP server

Line ending Specifies the format of line breaks in the message text.

CRLF: Standard format for SMTP emails and the recommended setting. Use CRLF especially if messages appear blank or are not formatted correctly in Microsoft Outlook.

LF: A format commonly used in Linux. This setting should only be used if the receiving server or the application being used explicitly expects LF line breaks.

Changes are applied when you click "Save Changes."

Enter the IP address or mail server name along with the domain.

• Security Type

Many mail servers require encrypted transmission.

No encryption (default port: 25)
SSL (default port: 465)
STARTTLS (default port: 587), default setting

• Port

Port 25 is the default port for unencrypted SMTP. Port 465 is used for encrypted SMTP emails.

• Username for logging in

This username must exist on the server.

• Password for logging in

You must enter a password.

• Sender's address

This is used for all outgoing emails.

• Signature

The option to enter a signature that is included in the body of the email.

Note: Only authenticated logins are permitted.
